What time is check-in?
Check-in is from 1pm onwards to help you make the most of your day.
Earlier check-in may be available for a nominal fee.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is a leisurely 11 am.

How long does it take to drive?
About 2 hours from Hobart airport.
About 1.5 hours from Launceston airport.
About 2.5 hours from Devonport terminal.
Is there a minimum stay?
Our minimum stay varies between 3 and 7 nights depending on the dates. With so much on offer here, most guests choose to stay at least a week anyway.
Will you meet me on arrival?
We like our guests to feel free to arrive in their own time, so if we hear you arrive we may say a quick hello, but otherwise we just leave you to your privacy.
How close are the national parks and other attractions?
Many sights and attractions are between 5 and 40 minutes from Dolphin Shores.
Freycinet National Park, Douglas Apsley National Park, 3 waterfalls, 6 vineyards, Swansea, Bicheno, a historic convict-built bridge, numerous lookouts, seafood outlets, shops, chemists, general stores, museums, restaurants, bottle shops, bakeries, a berry farm and more are all within an easy hour's drive. Is the property suitable for infants?
For safety reasons, we do not accept bookings with infants. There are fall and burn risks, as well as the potential for stings or bites associated with being in a bush environment.
How close is the beach?
Our private access will have you on Nine Mile Beach in under a minute.
Do I need to clean up before check-out?
All we ask is that you respect the place, put any dirty dishes through the dishwasher, clean up any obvious mess or spills, hang up wet towels, and put rubbish in the bin. We'll take care of the rest.
When do I have to pay?
Unlike a hotel, we only cater for one booking at a time, so we will ask for a deposit upon confirmation, with the balance usually due a month before your check-in date.
Is there a charge for extra guests?
Our direct rates are based on the number of bedrooms and bathrooms used, not the number of people, helping to keep additional costs to a minimum.
What happens if I have to change or cancel?
We understand that circumstances change, and will work with you to minimise loss. Generally, any nights that are resold will be refunded, less a handling fee.
How many people does it accommodate?
Council regulations limit occupancy to 5, regardless of age.
Can we bring our pet?
Dolphin Shores is a registered Land For Wildlife conservation and is surrounded by reserves and sanctuaries, so unfortunately pets cannot accompany you.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, discounts are offered for direct bookings, with additional discounts for past guests. Also, our nightly rates reduce for every additional night booked beyond the minimum stay.
What are your Covid-safe protocols?
Dolphin Shores meets and exceeds Australian, CDC (U.S.), and W.H.O. Covid-safe cleaning requirements for hotels and guest houses despite these regulatory requirements having been dropped. We undertake a full 2-day deep clean of the entire house, sterilising, disinfecting, cleaning and airing, regardless of the Covid status of guests. We even leave the property unoccupied for at least double the recommended time between guests. With these protocols, so much outdoor garden space, and so many activities, we were ideally set up to host guests during their isolation period without impacting following guests.
Can we bring our own bikes, boat or kayaks?
Yes, we have plenty of space and are perfectly located to use all these, although check with us about the size of your boat to ensure it fits down the driveway. We also have bikes and kayaks you can borrow during your stay.
Will there be other people using the property?
You will have exclusive use of the accommodation and 5 acres of land. The property is designed to be extremely private, so you cannot be seen from the road, the neighbours or the beach.
What is the nightly price?
Our rates are dynamic, and vary depending on the season, how many nights you are booking, and how many bedrooms / bathrooms you require. To help get the most out of your stay, we offer progressively larger discounts for every extra night booked. We will happily offer a loyalty discount to returning guests.
Can I book early check-in or late check-out?
Yes. Our 1pm check-in and 11am check-out times are already the most generous around, however we can often provide an additional 2-hour block for $50 so that you can get even more out of each day.
Is the house offered year-round?
Yes, accommodation at Dolphin Shores is offered throughout the whole year. Online platforms may not show all date availability, so always check directly with us for the best options.
Does Dolphin Shores hold a short-stay permit?
Yes. Dolphin Shores' short-stay accommodation permit number is DA2019/00327.
