A short drive along the road will take you to Melshell Oysters and then on into the busy town of Swansea with restaurants, supermarkets, museums, bike hire, fishing charters, exercise area, and a 9-hole golf course.
South of Swansea is Kate's Berry Farm with a café and range of produce for sale. Just a little further south is Spiky Beach and the convict-built Spiky Bridge.
There are seven vineyards within a 15-30 minute drive, 1 to the south and 6 to the north. Many offering tasting plates or full meals. See our map for locations.
Lost Falls, Meetus Falls and Hardings Falls make for a fun day-trip (4WD roads) with some bush walking (pack a lunch, drinks, walking shoes, and a camera).
Forty minutes to the north is Bicheno, a popular spot for surfing, diving, fishing and penguin watching. Douglas Apsley National Park is to the north, and Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay are to the east. From Coles Bay you may like to join Freycinet Charters for a cruise around the peninsula and into Wineglass Bay, hire a paddleboard, kayak or even some fishing gear, or perhaps just call into Freycinet Marine Farm for some fresh seafood on the way home.
Bring your bikes, borrow ours, or ask us about booking a local escorted or self-paced cycle tour (bikes included) that will take you on an easy ride to nearby vineyards for a fun day out.
