Dolphin Shores is a registered Land For Wildlife property through the Tasmanian Land Conservancy, managing the land carefully to create and protect a natural habitat for native wildlife.
Our vast plantings of coastal vegetation have never been more important in supporting local wildlife due to the rapid growth in new building developments and increased frequency of bushfires forcing animals out.
Land along Dolphin Sands is particularly fragile, and taking care of it is an important responsibility. In addition to long-term projects like tree planting and limiting use of bore water, some of the everyday steps we take to ensure the continued viability of this beautiful place include:
Capturing rainwater for washing and drinking
Maintaining a septic waste and grey-water management system
Upcycling and recycling
Utilising solar energy
Sourcing bathroom and cleaning products that are cruelty-free, ethically sourced, and free of harmful chemicals
Avoiding chemicals that could end up down drains or in the ground
Never having outdoor fires, and avoiding use of machinery that may start bushfires
Not excavating or eroding the sand dunes that protect us from rising tides
